Channel 7: WBTV
2023-07-25: I had a dream a few nights ago of an alternate timeframe where, when I was 3 years old, the world experienced a massive catastrophe incapacitating nearly all electronics world-wide and killing 99% of the population. I lived in a place that was affected minimally by the deaths, and I lived a life where those in my town had to work together to survive. People converted their entire yards into garden farms, sharing the produce between everyone. Plumbing no longer worked so outhouses had to be constructed. Knowledge was continually shared between town members, not just from parents to kids, so that everyone can take part. That there's no single weak link. There was a lot of struggle, but it made for a closer population. Slowly, we regained use of technologies (boilers, which lead to power generation, which lead to functioning pumps and thus plumbing), but it was limited to within our town. When I woke up, I was kind of sad. I can't imagine how hard such a life would be without electricity and running water, but at the same time, there's a simplicity to such a timeframe.
I think that's why I like the idea of Solarpunk, as it's the blending of nature and technology, bringing communities closer together to rely on themselves instead of people outside. Decentralized industry where we can have it: dairy plants in every town, as an example. One can dream...
2023-05-09: Welp, so I kind of disappeared and neglected this space. It's been a busy few months, but school is done now until September. I decided to go back to do essentially half of my Third Class. I'm currently waiting on my exam results to find out if I'm an actual Fourth Class Engineer, or if I need to retake exam 4B. I also did my Refrigeration Engineers exam, so waiting on that, but if I didn't pass my 4B, my Refrig results won't matter until I do. So here's hoping. I should have the results by latest Friday, ideally. So in the meantime, I've spruced up my resume, and will start applying where I can once I have confirmation.
2023-01-02: School starts back up in less than 48 hours. I still haven't read anything, unfortunately. I'll be starting on my Water Treatment text tonight, I'm thinking. I'm also starting up back at the gym today after another couple weeks off. Reworked my overall fitness plan, incorporating weight lifting, martial arts (just practicing my old stuff), mobility, and calisthenics. Monday and Friday will be gym days, Tuesdays and Thursdays are martial arts practice, and Wednesday will be for mobility and calisthenics. I also want to start taking control again of my diet, which I'm storyboarding currently. I'm also going to read into how RSS works and see if I can make that work for this site in any capacity. We'll see! Hope you all had a happy holidays and will have a great new year!
2022-12-21: Well, my first provincial exam, 4A, is complete and I've passed. Now it's holidays and I'll get started on studying, specifically Water Treatment, as that's my next class, as well as Prime Movers and Pumps/Compressors/Lubrications, as those may be worth getting ahead on. I can also start reading Heating Systems and Boiler Controls, as those appear to be the scheduled classes after Water Treatment. Hopefully I can work ahead somewhat and be ready early for my second provincial exam, 4B, for when it comes up in May.
2022-12-08: Panic is setting in more each day. Next Wednesday is my first provincial Power Engineering Fourth Class exam. As far as I know, my marks in school are great, but this exam is on everything I've done since the start of September. I just don't know if I'm prepared enough and I don't know the best way to prepare. I was never a good exams person in high school, and now that's all coming to a head. o_o;
EDIT: Oh and expanded on the blog name, it's now Channel 7: WBTV, standing for Weblog Television, to play more into the whole TV channel shtick.
2022-12-03: This was originally going to be named Chapter 7, based on a past blog I had which I titled Chapter Four. That name was taken from the song Chapter Four by Avenged Sevenfold, whom I had been newly introduced to at that time. It was in my teens and I was obsessed with the band.
However, before beginning to write this all out, and seeing the abbreviated ch7 that I used for the folder and index name, I decided to go with Channel 7. Something about it is just vibing with me, so we'll see.
So without further ado, welcome to Channel 7 (hinthint its just a blog)!
